Oaks started this project in 2016 with Staci Fink and some friends. As the band changed, so did the name, first being called “the Walldos”, then “Novyy Stil’” (Russian for ”the New Style”), and now “the Side Chicks”. The sound went from Alt Rock, to Pop, to Funk, and now, the total mixture that is Neo-Soul. The band takes inspiration from Hiatus Kaiyote, Anderson .Paak, Amy Winehouse, Jorja Smith, to name a few.

Staci Fink she/theySaxophonistSaxophonist and improviser, Staci was going to college for environmental science at the University of New Haven when she had the epiphany that she wanted to pursue her passion for music. She left Connecticut and went on to study music for two years at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia. It was there that she explored her improvisational skills and built a foundation for her free-style Jazz. She received her degree in music and finished up her studies at Bucks County Community College, where she met bandmate Alexa Korogodsky. They have evolved their sound together from pop to funk to neo soul. A highlight in this evolution was playing with funk legend and Grammy award winner, Michael Hampton, of Parliament Funkadelic. The Side Chicks is one of Staci’s main projects but additionally she has been in and out of big bands, plays jam sessions in nightclubs throughout Philadelphia, and is the Saxophonist in the funk fusion band, Somethin’ Divine.
